The image on the front label is taken from a family photograph painted in oil by Kika Godinovic, a local artist from winemaker Frane Franicevic’s birthplace Sucuraj on the island of Hvar. The dramatic scene tells of Frane’s great-grandfather, a cooper and winemaker, carrying barrels of wine from Hvar to the Croatian mainland for sale in the marketplace circa the 1920s – a centuries-old family tradition.

2003 Malbec

Suncé’s maiden voyage with this varietal exudes a typical Malbec nose: rich, deep aromas of fruitcake, truffles, and hints of anise. In the mouth this inky wine shows balanced fruit from start to finish, with flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and mild earth as well as nuances of vanilla and spiced clove. Exceptionally age worthy for 12-15 years.
